The Hood Law Firm, LLC Names Brian E. Johnson as a New Partner

April 21, 2014 -- Charleston, SC -- The Hood Law Firm, LLC is pleased to announce that Brian E. Johnson has been named a Partner of the firm. Mr. Johnson focuses on civil litigation defense in the practice areas of medical malpractice, healthcare litigation, premises liability and commercial litigation. He has also represented Plaintiffs in collections matters. Mr. Johnson has contributed to The DefenseLine, the publication of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association, and has spoken to groups on topics related to healthcare litigation.
Mr. Johnson is a member of the South Carolina State Bar and the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. He obtained a B.S. from Clemson University in 2007 and earned his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2007.

Molly Craig Elected IADC President

We are pleased and, indeed, proud to announce that Hood Law Firm Partner, Molly H. Craig, was elected President of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) for the 2013-14 term at its Annual Meeting in Maui, Hawaii. As many of you know, the IADC (www.iadclaw.org) is an invitation-only professional legal association comprised of approximately 2,450 in-house, corporate and insurance defense lawyers from the United States and 36 countries around the world. Throughout its 93-year history, the IADC has been the world's leading association of defense trial counsel. Molly will serve as President of the IADC until its 2014 Annual Meeting in Vienna, Austria.

At the Hood Law Firm, Molly focuses her practice on the defense of catastrophic product liability, professional liability, pharmaceutical and medical device, nursing home litigation, employment litigation, and negligence matters throughout the United States. She is ranked in the Chambers USA Guide and is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. Additionally, Molly is listed in Best Lawyers in America and by South Carolina Super Lawyers.

Molly is actively involved in various other professional and civic organizations. She is a past president of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association and is the National Coordinator for Justice Sandra Day O'Connor's project, iCivics. Molly currently is a member of the Board of Directors of DRI and Lawyers for Civil Justice, and served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (ADTA). She is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC) and the Attorneys Committee for the National Center of State Courts. Molly received her B.A. from the University of the South, Sewanee and her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Hood Law Firm Announces New Partners

The Hood Law Firm, LLC is pleased to announce the addition of three new Partners. C. Tyson Nettles, William M. O’Neil and H. Cooper Wilson, III have joined the firm’s roster of senior attorneys.

C. Tyson Nettles

C. Tyson Nettles graduated from the University of South Carolina and received a J. D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law where he served as Associate Editor of the Mississippi Law Journal. His litigation practice includes architect and engineer defense, construction, business, toxic torts (Asbestos, Spray Foam Insulation and Benzene), mechanic's liens, insurance coverage, real estate litigation, HOAs, collections/executions and premises liability. A South Carolina Engineer in Training, Nettles is the Vice-Chairman of the SC Board of Architectural Examiners and a member of the South Carolina Bar House of Delegates. He was named a “Rising Star” (2013) by SC Super Lawyers. He is admitted to the Courts of South Carolina and Mississippi as well as to the US Patent and Trademark Office. Nettles is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the SC Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

William M. “Bill” O’Neil

Bill O’Neil received a B. A. from Vanderbilt University and a J. D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. O’Neil focuses his practice on construction litigation, commercial litigation, general liability coverage matters, products liability, premises liability and employment law. O’Neil is admitted to the South Carolina State Bar and the US District Court for the District of South Carolina. He is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the SC Bar Association and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association.

H. Cooper Wilson, III

H. Cooper Wilson, III practices in the areas of medical malpractice, civil and commercial litigation, products liability, general negligence, and insurance law. Wilson earned a J. D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. While in law school, Wilson served as a law clerk for the South Carolina House of Representatives Judiciary Committee. Wilson is admitted to the South Carolina State Bar and the US District Court, District of South Carolina. Wilson is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association. He was named a “Rising Star” (2013) by SC Super Lawyers and serves on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics of South Carolina and YMCA of Charleston.

Molly H. Craig Inducted into the International Academy of Trial Lawyers

Molly H. Craig, a partner at Hood Law Firm, LLC in Charleston, SC was recently inducted into the International Academy of Trial Lawyers (IATL) at their Mid Year Meeting held July 17-21, 2013 in Chicago, Illinois.

The International Academy of Trial Lawyers limits membership to 500 Fellows from the United States.
